Every property in NSW has an invisible legal line running through its electrical system: the meter. Everything on your side of it — power points, lights, internal wiring — is the territory of a standard licensed electrician. Everything on the street side — the service line, the connection point, the metering equipment, the consumer mains — belongs to the electricity network, and only an Accredited Service Provider under the NSW ASP scheme is authorised to touch it.

Accredited directly by Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy, they can disconnect and reconnect your property from the grid, install and repair service lines overhead or underground, install metering, and erect private poles — work that would be illegal and genuinely dangerous for anyone else, because much of it is done on or near live network assets.
